A technology expert and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Biodun Ogundipe, has emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State ahead of the next gubernatorial election.
The result of the primary election was officially declared in Abeokuta by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Adeniyi Adams, who said Dr. Ogundipe emerged victorious after polling the highest number of votes in the exercise.
According to the results announced by the committee, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe secured 9,370 votes to defeat his closest rival, Otunba Jimi Lawal, who polled 6,812 votes, while Mrs. Marie Odusina garnered 2,349 votes.
Dr Ogundipe, while addressing party faithful and supporters after his emergence, pledged to unite all factions within the party, stressing that every member remains important to the growth and success of ADC in the state.
The governorship candidate called on residents of Ogun State and party stakeholders to support his ambition to change the face of the state through people-oriented governance and economic transformation.
According to him, Ogun State possesses enormous potential that must be properly harnessed to improve the economy, create opportunities for young people, and ensure better living conditions for residents.
Dr Ogundipe also declared that he is fully prepared for the task of governance, expressing confidence in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership and address the challenges confronting the state.
He challenged the current administration in the state, insisting that the people deserve better governance, improved infrastructure, enhanced economic policies, and inclusive leadership that prioritises the welfare of citizens.
The ADC candidate further assured supporters that his administration, if elected, would focus on innovation, economic development, job creation, and unity across the state.
Party members at the event expressed optimism over his emergence, describing him as a competent and visionary leader capable of repositioning Ogun State for greater development.
